Tommy D
President / Field Trip Coordinator
I have enjoyed Photography since the day I was given my first Camera at 10 yrs old.
Before I joined the Club in 1996 I always considered myself a Good Photographer, but realized that I was, at best only a Good Picture taker.
Thanks to all I have learned by being a Member, I can now say that I am a much advanced Photographer who is now capable of creating Photographic Images that I only wished I could before joining.
Programs and Photo Competitions with Critiquing and Constructive Feedback are provided to help increase your Photography Knowledge and Ability. The only person you compete with is yourself.
Our Meetings and Trips are designed to provide a great oppourtunity to build Fellowship and to Share or Receive Information with Others.
So, if you are Curious to see what a Photo Club is all about, send an e-mail on the "Contact us" page and you will be contacted with a date to visit and to see for yourself.
Hope to see you soon,
Tommy D

Scott Allen
Vice-President / Competition Coordinator
I first became interested in Photography and how to shoot Photos back in high school. As my interest grew I decided to purchased my first SLR, a Minolta 7000 which helped to increase my interest in photography and my taste in cameras, which still grows today. I joined my first local camera club (The Gateway Photographers of Staten Island) and since I had became a Member I have learned so much from my fellow club members and from various Tips given to me by our competition judges.
I am very excited about the upcoming 2009-2010 season because I will become the Club's new Vice President which is such a proud position to hold in a Club of this Quality.
I enjoy shooting Nature photography but I really love the Challenge of shooting Macro Photography and to photograph Dancers, both in the dance studio and at the dance events.
The digital age.. Wow!! Digital cameras, ACR, Photoshop, Lightroom, playing around with different filters - so much you can do and so much fun doing it.
I always try to keep a camera with me at all times because my my motto is, "Have no camera, another photo-op lost",
"Happy shooting everyone...
Hey Wait, before you leave why not check out my Website: Scott Allen Photography
Thanks,
Scott

Hi,
Having served as President for 14 years I had the priviledge and opportunity to have met and become friends with some of the most talented photographers in the New York/New Jersey area.
Gateway has always stood as an organization that welcomes and respects all photographers, no matte
r what their photographic experiences may be. Young and old, male or female, amateur or pro, Gateway awaits with open arms. The only requirement you need is a passion for this wonderful hobby we call photography.

Andrew Lisanti - As a young child I was very interested whenever my father took pictures at family events and vacations. It fascinated me that from this small box camera came the pictures we looked at. As I grew older this fascination never left me and I started taking my own images. In high school I took my first photography course learning all the steps it took to develop the pictures that “Box” held inside.  I have never stopped learning about this craft since. Gateway has taught me things that my formal training had not, plus it has built friendships with people that are as enthusiastic about this art as I am. I enjoy making images today as much as I first did and hope this feeling will never change.

Robert Catalano - For me photography allows me to look at ordinary things in different ways.  Over the past two years I have been exploring and learning various elements of digital photography from composition to post production processing.  I primarily shoot landscapes and often utilize a technique called High Dynamic Range (HDR).  Much of my work can be viewed on my Flickr photo stream at www.flickr.com/photos/r_catalano. In June of 2008 one of my photos was on display at the Brooklyn Museum in an exhibition called Click.
